The oldest book I own

I saw this meme type thing at snail's tails and thought it was neat, so here is my oldest book: Symbolae Mycologicae by Leopold Fuckel and dates from 1869.

Its a book on fungi in german, notable because it contains the first description of several species and genera of fungi. It also has a few nice illustrations that have been hand tinted:

I very much appreciate your blog, but rarely comment as I have little of intelligence to say.

However, FWIW, my oldest book is "Campfires of Napoleon", by Henry C. Watson, "Copyright H. C. Peck & Theo. Bliss, 1854", printed in Philadelphia. It has illustrative engravings, of which the author comments ..."the time is approaching when few historical works will be published without such illustrations."

So, although Mr. Watson nearly worshiped Napoleon, he was (more or less) in the vanguard of literary innovation.

There is a slim possibility that, buried in some box, I've an older book, but this is unlikely.

I really do like your blog. You always teach me something interesting, and I visit at least weekly, as well as receive your newsfeed.

Do you like playing in the game which you need to use maple mesos, when you do not have mesos, you must borrow cheap mesos from friends, or you buy maplestory mesos. If you get maple story mesos, you can continue this game.
